Two Weeks After the Third CUPW Strike

We have long relied on Canada Post as the best shipping option for rural Canadian addresses while remaining competitive in urban centers. We believe that remains true, but with CUPW striking for the third time in under a year and with no end in sight, we are adjusting our shipping policies to shipments flowing smoothly.

How New Orders Are Shipping

We have partnered with third-party couriers to resume ASAP shipping. For now, checkout offers two options at our standard rates.

  • Third-party courier shipping: Ships immediately but cannot deliver to PO boxes. Some rural or remote addresses may require additional postage.
  • Hold for Canada Post: This may be the most affordable option for very remote areas once service resumes.

Existing Orders That Haven’t Shipped

We were able to rescue some orders before they shipped the day the strike began, and others are currently waiting to see what happens with the strike. Now that we are reasonably confident in our third-party solution, we are contacting customers by email to confirm whether they prefer to wait or have their order shipped. If you haven’t heard from us yet, feel free to reach out.

Orders Stuck in Canada Post Transit

First off, we are very sorry that your order is stuck somewhere in the Canada Post network. We genuinely believed CUPW would not strike again, as we believe it could jeopardize Canada Post’s future. Unfortunately, we were wrong. While we can’t retrieve packages already in transit, we are here to help. If you need your gear now, you can reorder, and we will send along a prepaid return label for when the original order arrives for a full refund.

Going Forward

We are monitoring the strike closely and making changes as needed to maintain smooth and affordable shipping. Please reach out by phone at 800-757-9026 or email at sales@greatadventure.ca if you have any questions or concerns.

Take care,

The Stapletons
